Welcome to February
February is that time of year when we are deep in the hunkering down and solitude required to reshape or build what is to come in this year. So many make the mistake of launching into the New Year on Day One thinking they need resolutions or a change in habit or circumstance, and without the appropriate mental, physical and psychological preparation, launch right in – and then fail. It is no wonder: objectives, if they are correct for you and built on the correct combination of reality, heart and mind, are about timing.
The first few weeks of any new year are about cleaning up and clearing out what was—whether this be outdated ways of thinking, old habits or relationships, or a myriad of other things we wish to accomplish or do away with in the coming year. Then, it is time to move forward, and that time is now. Spend some time this month considering where you have come from and where you are going. Then make plans to make the needed changes and adjustments. Prepare properly, get the support you need in whatever form it takes, and then dive in. Remember compassion for self and others, and make self-care a priority. This is especially important in the Year of the Mirror, where karma will manifest instantly (by comparison), and what you put out in this world is what you will receive back—magnified. This is not punishment, nor is it compliment, it is simply a way of measuring your behavior and what you are contributing to your community and the world at large.
This year, it is especially important to take action. To be aware and awake is not enough. We are tired—exhausted, really, from what has passed these last years. And that is proper. What is NOT proper is the idea of “that’s just how it is” or “it’s too big and I can’t make a difference”. Every pebble that breaks the surface of a pond makes a difference, and you are no different. So decide what it is you want, how you will behave and what you will contribute. Then take action. Hold politicians, influencers, corporations and others accountable for their actions—write letters, make calls, gather community around a topic you are passionate about. Stop buying their products and services and be vocal about why. Speak what is true. This is not for self-aggrandizement or self-importance (those individuals who continue that path will be held accountable), rather, it is for creating the kind of world you want to live in, and you want generations after you to live in. Start somewhere: it begins within the confines of your own heart and mind.
“The truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose. It will defend itself.” – Saint Augustine
– What’s Happening This Month –
Moonstone owner, Kathy, and her bestie and wing-woman Lois dragged themselves (hardly!) to the largest gem and mineral show of the year in the ever-warm Tuscon, AZ, and wait until you see what they’re bringing back!! Gorgeous rocks and gems in all shapes and sizes—towers, skulls, palm and pocket stones, stand-alone pieces, totems and more! We’ll have them inventoried and on our shelves by mid-month, so come check out the beautiful and powerful nebular obsidian, Caribbean calcite, amethyst stars, and so much more. Watching over this year is obsidian—the mirror that reflects back your actions—and we’ll have plenty in stock. Unfortunately, rainbow obsidian is mined out and those mines will be closed for years to come, so what we have in stock and what Kathy has purchased is all we will have for the foreseeable future.
